Member Services - How to Join

Are you interested in teaching and becoming a PSIA/AASI certified snowsports instructor?

  1. If you are passionate about skiing or riding and want to share your enthusiasm - there are many resorts who would want to talk to you about instructing. The first step is to apply for an instructor position with the snowsports school of your choice. To learn which Eastern Division resorts are looking for instructors this season go to our job posting section.
  1. Each resort has different requirements, but you should expect to have an off-snow interview. You should approach this interview as you would an interview for any other job. During the interview, the resort will want to know about you and why you want to instruct and work for them.
  1. After your first off-snow contact with a hiring manager, most resorts will also have on-snow training as well. Keep in mind, you don't have to be the greatest skier/rider on the mountain to teach. Your ability to communicate and be personable is probably even more important than your skiing/riding skills. The best instructors have a knack of making people feel comfortable and a way of making learning fun. Through teaching, your own skills will improve.
  1. After you are hired and have 25 hours of teaching and/or clinic experience, you can become a Registered member of PSIA/AASI and take advantage of all the resources and services we offer. We can help you to becoming a certified instructor and to being the best instructor that you want to be!

By becoming a member of PSIA/AASI your teaching will continue to improve, and your on-snow skills will continue to improve as well. It's a great cycle of learning for both you and your students! Why not get started this season? To learn which Eastern Division resorts are looking for instructors this season go to our job posting section.
