We conduct more than 350 education and certification events
each season in alpine skiing, including a dynamic series of
feature events and seminars. Alpine members are offered a
myriad of programs, from guest service to teaching methodology
to skiing mechanics and personal skiing improvement.
In November, more than 200 snowsports school directors,
supervisors, and trainers from resorts throughout the East
kick off the season at the annual Snowsports School Management
Seminar. This event brings participants up to date on new
trends within PSIA-E and AASI, industry issues, and a variety
of training and management issues.
In December, the Snow Pro Jam is THE place to be for snowsports
instructors. The Snow Pro Jam & Master's Academy events are five days long and attract over 450
members from the Eastern Division. Level I & II certified participants ski with members of the
PSIA-E Educational Staff in the Snow Pro Jam, while Level III certified instructors ski with
members of the PSIA National Alpine Demonstration Team at the Master's Academy. Everyone involved in
all these events enjoy an incredible week of fun and education with both new and old friends.
PSIA-E/AASI's Children's Academy, Alpine Race Programs,
Women's Seminar and Spring Academy/Rally are also exciting feature
events. All draw a diverse group of snowsports instructors who
are motivated to be the best they can be and who come to share
the fun and excitement of snowsports and learning with their
peers.
PSIA-E/AASI developed an innovative Master Teacher Certification program with several accreditation programs. These programs
allow ski teachers to take a specially developed curricula
of courses designed to develop specific teaching skills and
knowledge in a specialized area.
Racing Programs
PSIA-Eastern Divisionhas put together an ambitious schedule of race
programs for anyone interested in learning to ski well in the
gates. Eastern Examiners staff all events and are joined by some
great guest coaches and speakers including occasional visits by
former World Cup and U.S. Ski Team members. On snow, racers run
gates, gates, and more gates with an eye toward working on the
latest in contemporary skiing technique.
Programs for Children's Educators
We provide programming for all levels of instructors including
entry level instructors who are the backbone of children's
educator programs. Our programs range from entry level
information to the most current children's educational theory
as applied to snowsports.
Instructors who care to know the most effective methods of
working with a variety of age groups attend our programs.
Our Children's Education Programs provide vital information
to PSIA members on the best methods to use to make a child's
time in the mountain environment an enjoyable, lifetime
experience.
