Specific drills for more accurate ski-snow contact in order to shape turns accurately. Activating early edge movements and moving the cm in the turn direction along with pressure control to hold on ice and to carve a fast turn will be explored. Must be able to tele on blue square terrain.
Early Season Primer Yes Telemark Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
Teaching methodologies, strategies, description/prescription for movement analysis, along with the best teaching activity for the level of student will be reviewed and practiced by all. Progressions for beginners and intermediates as well as some personal feedback for your early season skiing skills will be included. This event is guided by the group’s topics and questions. Must be able to tele on blue square terrain.
Exam Prep Yes Telemark Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
This will be a mock or practice exam for Level II & III, Development and DCL Team. A written test and review, skiing tasks and teaching scenarios will be offered with feedback so you know where you are in your education. Of course, this will be done in the traditional Nordic experiential fashion where testing can be fun and rewarding.
Free Heel Women Upgrade Yes Telemark Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
This educational event is specifically for female instructors. This is a great two days to be with female snowsports educators and improve your Telemark skills.
Level 1 Upgrade Learn to Tele Yes Telemark 1 3 Green 2 days on snow 12
Beginner progressions and movement analysis along with skier improvement will be the focus of these events. Utilizing the Telemark Components and understanding the many ways to introduce and learn the Telemark turn are the goals. Lots of skiing and practice teaching to insure the participant can tele, understand and teach the sport upon completion. Must be able to negotiate down green circle terrain to participate. Your competency will depend on if you can obtain level I or not.
Mini Academy Yes Telemark Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
This is for all levels also and you can obtain Level I as in the Snow Pro Jam. Skier improvement with video and a quicker version of teaching activities for you to use to teach other students will be reviewed. Movement analysis of other skiers with description/prescription will be utilized throughout the two to get you ready for the season. Nordic surprises here too. Mostly geared to skier improvement for yourself. Telemark turn are the goals. Lots of skiing and practice teaching to insure the participant can tele, understand and teach the sport upon completion are our goals. Must be able to Telemark on blue square terrain.
Norwegian Tele Fling Yes Telemark Non 3 Green 2 days on snow 12
This is our end-of-the-year fun, sun, bumps, corn and video, have great time, clinic. The content is on skiing at your pace with tips for improvement and how to teach less structurally and more to the senses. Activities, games and a party are included in this fun event. Must be able to Telemark on green circle terrain.
Off Piste Trees & Steeps Yes Telemark Non 3 Black 2 days on snow 12
Be ready to hike, tour and climb. Our goal is to find the best snow and trees somewhere on or near the surrounding mountain environment. There are always two groups to take care of the pacing needs. Safety and endurance are strictly adhered to in these clinics; at times, suggestions will be made for your enjoyment. A great way to improve your off-piste skiing performance! Normally, this clinic is more of an experiential learning environment as opposed to a task-teaching environment. The advanced group will be looking to find the best spots all day. Your skis could be in some rough places so come with the attitude that they are merely a replaceable tool (that is a disclaimer if the snow is low). Must be proficient to hike and get down black terrain on Telemark gear.
Online Professional Knowledge Exam No Telemark 1 1 N/A Online 0
The online professional knowledge exam consists of 50 randomly selected multiple-choice questions. The professional knowledge exam score is independent of the on snow portion of the exam. A candidate must receive a score of 70% or higher on the professional knowledge exam to be successful. A candidate’s successful score will be recorded in the Eastern Office. You will have access to the online exam 24/7 between August 15 and April 15 of each year. Once your application is processed, you will receive a separate email within two business days with a link to take the online exam. Should a member require special arrangements for taking the exam, or does not have online access, arrangements can be made through the PSIA-E Office by contacting the Education and Programs Department at 518-452-6095.
Skiing Improvement Yes Telemark Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
This event will take in the conditions and apply it to your technique improvement. Specific activities, drills and progressions geared specifically to you will allow you to practice and improve. Movement analysis specific to your technique will be discussed and viewed as well. Must be able to Telemark on blue square terrain, Lots on skiing in this event!
Snow Pro Jam Yes Telemark Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
This 5-day event will take students through beginner to advance teaching activities and progressions. Practice time for the student to actually teach tele and do movement analysis with video will also take place. Personal skiing improvement with video and specialized activities for each individual is another topic for the week. Lots of skiing and repetition of good movements to get into shape and perform efficiently will be included in a relaxed atmosphere and pace. Must be able to Telemark blue square terrain.
Spring Rally Yes Telemark Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
Anything goes here. Level I to advanced, to off-piste, bumps or the park – we will service any of your needs. Telemark race included and the Norwegian Party will be there. Usually this event is fun and light hearted; you dictate the amount of info you want.
Teaching / Skiing Yes Telemark Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
This event is for participants that have at least a novice to above understanding of Telemark skiing. This event will review the components of a Telemark turn and how these basic movements can be taught successfully to diverse styles of students. Creative activities, small progressions, exercises coupled with movement analysis to target the concerned areas of students will allow people to learn to teach effectively. The group’s level will dictate the areas we teach in, all levels will be explored. Must be able to Telemark on blue square terrain.
Trees & Bumps – All Levels Yes Telemark Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
This event will mix tree and bump skiing together in their many skiable acres under the canopy. Safe skiing using a high degree of visual acuity along with the strategies and techniques to ski bumps and trees will be shared. A more learn-to group and advanced group will comprise the split for this event. We will be using some of the most unique trails and conditions, so be ready for anything. Must be able to tele on blue square terrain.
Trees & Bumps – Interm/Advanced Yes Telemark Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
This event will mix tree and bump skiing together because of their many skiable acres under the canopy. Safe skiing using a high degree of visual acuity along with the strategies and techniques to ski bumps and trees will be shared. A more advanced approach will be explored for this event. Must be a proficient telemarked on blue square terrain.
Trees & Steeps Yes Telemark Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
All participants should feel comfortable skiing ungroomed and varying snow conditions. The focus will be on developing and enhancing skills for skiing steep terrain and trees. Participants will be skiing on steep terrain and in trees according to the experience and ability level of the group.
Video Ski Improvement Yes Telemark Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
This event allows the Telemark skier to specifically be coached on their level of Telemark skiing to date. Movement analysis, personal lesson plans with activities crafted to meet your needs individually is our goal. Visual cues and markers for feedback that you can control as you improve will be taught. You should be able to negotiate blue square terrain before arriving (you might have some stance issues, but we’re used to that). We can share why and what we did with others in the group or it can be all about you! A great clinic to improve your skiing. Lots of video and skiing with the focus just on you!
XC Adaptive Teaching Yes Cross Country Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
This event will cover Developmentally Delayed Students, Blind, ADHD, ADD and physically challenged students. Cognitive techniques to communicate and engage in a safe manner along with activities for each group will be explored. Pacing, information load, refueling, dress and medicine will all be part of the lesson content. Tailoring the lesson to the student’s specific needs and how to get them sliding is the goal.
Backcountry Accreditation Snow Sense & Planning – Indoor Yes Cross Country 1 3 Blue / Black 2 days indoor 12
This 2-day intensive focuses on backcountry snow pack and terrain where avalanche awareness is a necessity, along with route finding and navigation, clothing and equipment needed for day and overnight outings, and the specific individual and group skills that lead to successful outings where there are no trails. All disciplines are encouraged to attend with specific focus on the different Nordic, Alpine and Snowboard equipment and techniques for the backcountry.

During the two days participants will put into practice what they learned in the first course. Packing, equipment prep, hydration, food, course, orienteering, analyzing snow conditions and safety scenarios will be added. Use of transceivers for pinpointing subject will be reviewed as well as uphill and downhill techniques. Expect to be outside for 6-8 hrs. each day
Backcountry Accreditation Putting It All Together Yes Cross Country 1 3 Blue / Black 2 days on snow 12
In the third course participants will be managing the 2 days with their newly acquired skills from the past 2 courses. Route finding, decision making and managing safety scenarios that we will create will be done by the group. An assessment at the end of the day will follow on their progress. One day will be ascending to 4000 ft., weather permitting.

Instructor Training Course (ITC) Yes Cross Country Non 3 Blue 3 days on snow 18
This 3-day course will review beginner to advanced teaching activities and strategies with your students. Practice teaching time and how to make an effective change in a student’s skiing will be a major part of the clinic. Movement analysis with video for yourself and of others to unlock the secrets of the intermediate rut will be reviewed. A great way to buff up on the skills and techniques
Classic/Skating Level I Upgrade Yes Cross Country Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
This event is for skiers to become Level I certified or to attend and upgrade if already certified. Level I explores teaching, skiing and professional knowledge of Nordic Track Skiing and the upgrade can be geared specifically to the participant’s needs. Both classic and freestyle will be covered.
Level I Skiing / Teaching Improvement Yes Cross Country Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
At this event you can acquire a Level I, upgrade or exam prep. Teaching scenarios, activities, progressions, and kids games for each classical and freestyle discipline will be shared. Time will be set aside for you to teach your group and gain practice, preparation and feedback on your lesson plan and delivery. Skiing improvement, movement analysis and creating teaching programs will also be reviewed. Bring your classical and freestyle gear. As always, your questions and topics will guide the direction of activity.
Lite Backcountry Tour Yes Cross Country Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
Light touring gear as compared to performance track gear is recommended. Ankle high boots with support, 75 mm, NNN BC or SNS BC bindings and skis with waist of 50-60 mm and tip/tail 70-85 ¾ edge (your choice, no matter) are recommended. Climbing, descending and traveling in off-piste snow will be covered in the technique area as well as fitting equipment. What should go in a daypack and how to use will also be covered. A long day tour or two tours, depending on the situation, will allow us to practice what we will be discussing. Climbing, traveling, descending, transitioning, hydration, energy, timing and orienteering will be topical areas we will cover in greater depth before departing or en route.
Video Ski Improvement Yes Cross Country Non 3 Blue 2 days on snow 12
Uses video as a tool for the participant to improve all aspects of their Nordic package. Individual coaching and personalized lesson plans will be delivered to you. There will be many chances to see yourself on film so you can see the changes we can develop together. A great way to change your skiing and understanding of what you are doing. Waxing and fitting gear will also be reviewed. Intermediate to above skiing level.
