Course Description:
Course Name: Game Changing Teaching
Discipline: Alpine
Time: 2 Days
Credits: 12 Continuing Education Credits
Environment: Advanced Blue to Easier Black Terrain
Prerequisites: Alpine Level II or Level III Certified

Course Description:
This course is an interactive teaching focused event. The event explores three distinct teaching areas known to affect performance changes. Participants will leave the event with a plan to coach areas of teaching that are likely to change their student's performance. Participation in a thorough exploration of these on-snow activities will reinforce this impactful approach.

Learning Experiences:
Specific activities will vary depending on the group and environmental conditions; however, they will typically include:
• Reviewing and understanding how the skills in the Learning Connection Model - technical, teaching and people skills, are successfully used in ski teaching.
• Observing and describing how the body is moving, should move, and how the skis should interact with the snow as they relate to the Skiing Fundamentals and identifying cause and effect.
• Sharing activities to promote changes. The activities chosen must be mountain skiing and/or Agility/Versatility tasks appropriate to the advanced zone. Teaching will be done in or lead to significant time spent in conditions and speed appropriate to the Advanced zone.
• Understanding how to incorporate Teaching Styles and VAK into coaching.
• Practicing how to interact with the group and trainer/examiner in a way that it is evident the group is engaged and understands activities and directives.
• Sharing how to adapt activities and communication for different ages and stages of development.

PSIA-AASI Eastern Division
Event Participant Safety Policy

Skiing and riding are athletic and physically demanding activities. It is the expectation of PSIA-AASI Eastern Division that each participant attending an event or exam shall possess the requisite level of fitness and stamina to participate safely, on all appropriate terrain and at a pace consistent with other members of the group. As such, PSIA-AASI Eastern Division reserves the right to have education staff reassign participants in any event that may pose a risk to themselves or others or consistently impede the progress of the group to another, more skill and fitness-appropriate event. In such a situation, an appropriate event will be recommended and the member may be transferred to that event at no charge (other than any difference in event costs) or a full refund of the originally registered event will be provided.
