Course Description:
Course Name: Level II Exam Prep Skiing
Discipline: Alpine
Time: 2 Days (12 credits)
Environment: Intermediate to easier advanced terrain
Note: Due to variations in trail difficulty designations from one resort to the next, i.e., a Blue Square run at one resort may be designated as a Black Diamond at another resort. It is possible, and probable at some resorts, that ungroomed or Black Diamond bumped runs may be included in the event. In addition, trail difficulty may vary due to snow conditions improving or deteriorating throughout the day. The course conductor will determine if the local trail designations and conditions adequately reflect the stated national standard concerning terrain and will choose terrain appropriate for preparation for the Level II Exam.
Prerequisites: Level 1 Certification
Course Description:
This clinic is conducted as a series of mock exam situations. You will be skiing in exam conditions while being evaluated by your trainer/examiner. A plan for exam strategies and training activities will be developed for you. This 2-day course is an excellent way to prepare for the exam, especially if you are uncomfortable in exam situations.
Video may or may not be taken during the session. The trainer/examiner may review performance on the mountain and/or during indoor video review sessions. A plan for exam strategies and training activities will be developed.
Learning Experiences:
Specific activities will vary depending on the group and environmental conditions; however, they will typically include:
• Reviewing the format of the Level II Skiing Exam.
• Introducing how the application of the Skills Concept and the Alpine Skiing Fundamentals impact ski performance and are reflected in the National Standard.
• Reviewing and understanding the Assessment Criteria for the Assessment Activities.
• Practicing the Assessment Activities. Depending upon the needs of the group, the group may:
o perform all of the Assessment Activities
o focus on those activities that need the most work or are least understood
o focus on activities that will help the group to improve ski performance in a broad range of activities
• Performing drills, static exercises, progressions or other activities, that are not Assessment Activities, but will aid all, or some members of the group in improving ski performance.

    Event Participant Safety Policy

Skiing and riding are athletic and physically demanding activities. It is the expectation of PSIA-AASI Eastern Division that each participant attending an event or exam shall possess the requisite level of fitness and stamina to participate safely, on all appropriate terrain and at a pace consistent with other members of the group. As such, PSIA-AASI Eastern Division reserves the right to have education staff reassign participants in any event that may pose a risk to themselves or others or consistently impede the progress of the group to another, more skill and fitness-appropriate event. In such a situation, an appropriate event will be recommended and the member may be transferred to that event at no charge (other than any difference in event costs) or a full refund of the originally registered event will be provided.
